Jennifer Maher: A Journey Through Creativity

Welcome to my author's website!

Jennifer Maher is an Irish author and illustrator known for her colorful and dreamy children's picture book, "The Happy Half-Moon Girl". Growing up in a lively household with five brothers and two sisters, Jennifer's love for adventure and mischief fuelled her creative spirit from a young age. She began writing poetry and short stories, spending hours sketching and painting every night.

The inspiration for "The Happy Half-Moon Girl" came when Jennifer's newborn daughter had to wear a cast for hip dysplasia. The cast extended from her armpits to her ankles, but it never bothered her. Due to its half-moon shape, Jennifer affectionately called her daughter the Happy Half Moon Girl. The name stuck, and a story quickly developed.

Jennifer's book, "The Happy Half-Moon Girl," was published through Bumblebee Books, Olympia Publishers, on April 23rd, 2021. It is IES Registered and widely available online and in stores, including Eason's, Dubray Books, Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Dymocks (Australia), Alan Hanna's Bookshop (Dublin), and Antonia's Bookstore.

Jennifer is currently working on two new children's picture books and a YA novel. Her journey takes her on a writers retreat with the University of Notre Dame this month. So stay tuned for more.
